Psychopomp Blues. AVAILABLE NOW!!
So it’s finally here. A book you can actually purchase and look at with your own two eyes, and maybe even read if the feeling takes you!
I’m much better at selling my stuff in-person, and I’m currently experiencing that strange inertia that comes when a project is complete, but here goes!
Psychopomp Blues is my paranormal noir/thriller/urban fantasy homunculus that I’ve been working on for the past three years. It’s my first foray into contemporary fiction that takes place (arguably) in the real world.
It took quite some time for the premise of what if you could sell the afterlife? to solidify into something coherent, but American Gods on the gig economy describes it pretty well.
We follow two Psychopomps; Gianni and Charn, as well as their inhuman handler, Wisp, as they peddle bespoke afterlives to elites lucky enough to buy their way into heaven, all while avoiding the monstrous punishments that come to those who screw up or displease their bosses, the enthusiasts.
A first-person nightmare full of danger and doubt, Psychopomp Blues channels aspects of fantasy, horror, espionage and conspiracy to form a dizzying adventure through the psychosis of our post-covid world. I just hope the world as it is holds together long enough for this book to remain relevant!
I’m happy for any critiques or referrals, and of course for any reviews that may please the algorithm gods. I’m going to be plugging this title as best I can whilst also making time to work on its sequel, Psychopomp Highs!
Keep an eye on this spot for more news about Psychopomp Blues, as well the imminent release of my industrial fantasy debut, The Sitherwyck Spoils!
